For about two hours yesterday I was without a doctor. Yes 25 weeks pregnant and no person to care for me and my sweet active child growing inside of me. Not a good thing to happen to a first time pregnant lady! Here is the story....I get a call from my doctor's office at about 10:45. They have called to inform me that my insurance has not been covering anything since January. In January our insurance changed to a different company. I had given the office the new information about three weeks before my January appointment, so you would think everything was settled and they knew that this insurance was not used by my doctor! Wrong! Either there not on top of the claims they make, or they are clueless to what the doctor has. About this time I am in panic mode, and yes this is all happening in my classroom while my sweet students are in there. Thank goodness I have an amazing class and they sat quietly doing some reading work. So I am told that I need to call the hospital where I am suppose to deliver to see if they carry this insurance, and also ask them about some out of network pay crap. I call the hospital and they accept my insurance but the doctor does not. So...no doctor but I do have an hospital. Problem....no one to deliver my sweet princess! Next step...call insurance company. At this time still in panic mode! Luckily I talk to a very nice lady and she explains everything to me. Our insurance is all threw a sub company where all of the claims have been going to. She has put in for the claims to come to them so that payment can be in the works. But....I still need a doctor! So she explains to me that not only does the doctor have to take my insurance but they must also accept this sub company. Big pain in the butt!!! The nice insurance lady goes threw all the doctors and gives my a list of seven doctors. I ask around work if anyone knows of these doctors. And......The top three that the nice lady gave me, at least one person goes to one of these doctors, and they are all in the same practice!!!!! By this time I am a very happy pregnant lady!!!! I call the new doctor's office, and I tell them my situation. I also was scheduled to take the lovely three hour glucose test on Wednesday (with the old place). Well I am very lucky and will be taking that test on Friday and I get to meet the new doctor! WOOHOO!!!!! Talk about some stress that was uncalled for, but I have learned something from all this.....Make sure you know if your insurance also goes threw a sub company! Have a happy Tuesday!!
